About Maddie Blue

About the Author

He is a former building tradesman who spent over three decades helping shape the iconic Las Vegas Strip. After retiring from a successful 32-year career in construction, he sought solace in the quiet beauty of the mountains, where he planned to live a peaceful and simple life. However, everything changed with the heartbreaking loss of his wife—a moment that led him to rediscover his two greatest passions: music and nature.

Turning pain into purpose, He began learning guitar, immersing himself in music that resonated with his soul. Inspired, he started writing songs—eventually penning over 40 heartfelt compositions. His journey took an unexpected turn when he rescued a remarkable border collie named Maddy, who would go on to become his closest companion, his service dog, and the heart of a deeply personal musical journey.

With Maddy by his side, He embarked on a mission to share his music and make a difference. Their incredible bond led to the creation of Maddy’s Army, a nonprofit effort that raised funds to provide service dogs to veterans—fueled by CD sales and live performances. Their debut album, Paul Mills: Maddy’s Army, was a touching tribute to the magic they shared on and off stage.

After the pandemic slowed the world of live music, He shifted his creative focus once again—this time to writing. Inspired by the storytelling style of his favorite artist, Leon Russell, He began pouring his thoughts into a series of books filled with reflection, humor, and soul. He also explores the world of driftwood art and other one-of-a-kind creations, channeling his emotions and creativity into every piece.

Today, He dedicates his writing, music, and art to the memory of Maddy—the dog who changed his life and touched the hearts of everyone she met. Through his work, her spirit continues to inspire.
